MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin’s 72,000 grocers are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine and some employers are offering incentives.
The last 12 months have been different for Marvin Moore who works the front end at Metcalfe’s Hilldale location. Social distancing, barriers, and masks make it hard for him to have a personal interaction with customers which is one of his favorite parts of the job. Yet everyday he rides the bus to his job and puts on a smile, even though he could be exposing himself to the virus.
“I pray every morning that I come to work to be safe, and (I) don’t bring any sickness home to my family,” says Moore.

CEDARBURG â The effort by the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly to eliminate the state mask mandate is unifying many businesses and professional organizations across the state in opposition to what seems like an inevitable move.
As of early Monday afternoon, 55 organizations representing hospitals and clinics, doctors, nurses, firefighters, grocers, churches, assisted living facilities, school district administrators and others have registered statements of opposition with the state.
The State Senate on Jan. 26 already approved its part of a joint bill that would eliminate Gov. Tony Eversâ COVID-19 public health emergency declaration, saying it was unconstitutional. They argue that Eversâ first public health emergency issued on March 12, 2020, expired after 60 days and that it can only be extended by a joint resolution of the Legislature.
Rep. Bryan Steil lashed out at Joe Biden on Wednesday as the new president called for unity to solve the nationâs problems.
âDespite promising to work for unity, in his first hours in office President Biden has managed to destroy American jobs, support giving amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants and make plans to enact a radical anti-life agenda,â the 1st District congressman said in a statement.
âOn day one, Biden has set the tone for what is to come in his administration: legislating by executive orders, championing massive spending bills and supporting far-left priorities that reverse years of economic growth and job creation,â Steil said.
