LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Legal issues continue to mount for suspended Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes, who is already facing charges for
Now, the Alabama Department of Public Examiners is releasing results of a recent audit on the embattled DAâs office that covers a span from Sept. 2018 to Nov. 30, 2020. That end date runs to 20 days after the DA was automatically suspended due to criminal indictment.
The examinerâs report finds that more than $22,000 is either missing or has been misspent by the office.

The company adds finishes to fabrics â making them waterproof, fire retardant, softer and stiffer â and is seeing increasing demand for their services. They just donât have enough employees to keep up with the demand.
The struggle to hire is the number one issue facing employers right now, TSG President Michael Goldman said. The company is urging local and state officials to do something about it.
âWe all know itâs a problem, but we donât want to complain without presenting any solutions,â Goldman said.
The company convened with a dozen manufacturing leaders and public officials Friday morning in Long View to talk through the hiring stagnation.

Despite being held to two hits on Wednesday night, the South Bend Cubs scraped out a hard fought 4-3 victory to move to 2-0 on the season. The Cubs registered their 11th straight win dating back to last season.
It was a double dip of debuts on the mound as the number four overall pick from the 2020 draft, Asa Lacy, took the mound for the River Bandits in his first appearance in professional baseball, and Chris Kachmar toed the rubber for the Cubs in his South Bend debut.

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) - A Nokomis man arrested on drug charges after Venice police found evidence in his car faces an additional charge of possessing a concealed handcuff key.
Venice police responded to a call of an unknown medical emergency at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday when they found Brandon Hughes, 30, sitting in a van staring into his lap at the corner of Kilpatrick Road and Pinebrook Road.
When police asked Hughes to step out of the vehicle, they saw multiple orange syringe caps and a liquid-soaked piece of cotton, an arrest report said.
