After averaging just under 11 new COVID-19 cases daily this week, the Brant County Health Unit on Friday reported six new cases in the previous 24 hours.
The six new cases are the lowest daily number recorded this week.

There have been 38 new cases this week. With three days left to report, Brantford and Brant County are on pace to have fewer than the 87 cases recorded for the week ended May 30.
The number of new daily COVID-19 cases continues to climb in Brantford and Brant County.
The Brant County Health Unit on Thursday reported 15 new cases in the previous 24 hours, up from 11 on Wednesday and seven on Tuesday.

The increase comes after the health issued a news release late Wednesday afternoon that stated 12 cases have been linked to outdoor gatherings between May 21 and 26. The health unit traced cases to outdoor social gatherings May 21, 22 and 23 in Brantford in wooded areas off of Hunter’s Way, around Franklin Grobb Memorial Forest, an outdoor social gathering May 25 at a quarry in Drumbo and a pickup football game May 26 at Brantford’s Lions Park.

Active cases also declined to 84 on Tuesday from 89 on Monday.
Hospitalizations in the area remained the same as the Brant Community Health Care System reported Monday and Tuesday three COVID patients receiving care at Brantford General Hospital. None was in critical care.
The health unit reports four patients are hospitalized with the difference due to the timing in reporting numbers.
Since the pandemic began in March last year, 3,265 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Brantford and Brant County, with 3,161 of those resulting in recovered cases.
Brantford and Brant County have posted their lowest weekly COVID-19 case count in more than two months.
The Brant County Health Unit n Monday reported nine positive results in the previous 24 hours, bringing to 86 the total number of cases for the week ended May 30 the lowest since 66 cases were recorded for the week ended March 28.

Case counts have been declining since hitting a record 269 for the week ended April 18.
Last week’s total is down from 102 for the week ended May 23 and 163 for the week ended May 16.
