The Brant County Health Unit reported on Tuesday nearly double the number of new COVID-19 cases from the day before.
On Tuesday, there were 29 new cases from the previous 24 hours, up from 15 reported Monday.

The new cases also pushed the number of total active cases back over 300. Currently, there are 306 active cases, an increase from 293 on Monday.
As of Tuesday morning, 26 COVID-19 patients were being treated at Brantford General Hospital. Of those, 11 were in critical care and 15 were in acute medical inpatient care.

Haldimand-Norfolk saw its weekly COVID-19 case count decline slightly last week.
With 20 new cases reported Monday in the past 24 hours by the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit, there were 166 cases in total over the past seven days.

Last week the HNHU reported 178 cases, which was a record high.
Active cases also continue to decline in the area. After reaching more than 300 active cases last week, there were 271 on Monday.
Since the pandemic began last March, 2,192 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Haldimand-Norfolk, with 1,875 of those resulting in recovered cases.
The number of new local COVID-19 cases fell last week after setting a record the week before.
The Brant County Health Unit on Monday reported 15 positive results in the previous 24 hours, bringing to 245 the number of new cases for the week ended April 25. For the week ended April 18, 269 new cases were recorded.

Despite the dip in weekly cases, the number of active cases in Brantford-Brant rose to 293 on Monday from 287 on Sunday.
