Greece’s authorities have announced the
opening of high schools in the country and the
loosening of a few lockdown measures, but said that
the night curfew and movement restrictions would stay in place.

Greece records 671 new coronavirus cases, 25 more deaths in 24 hours

Greece’s health authorities announce don Wednesday evening, 671 new coronavirus cases and another 25 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 340.

Although there is an improved picture in relation to new cases, there are still areas with outbreaks causing concern to health authorities.
At the live briefing on Wednesday, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said there were 7 areas causing concern. Therese are:
Western Attica, Viotia, Lesvos, Kalymnos, Rodopi, Argolida and Halkidiki.
Note that with the exception of Halkidiki, all other areas have been placed in tougher lockdown restrictions with the latest being Argolida and Municipality of Sparta today, Lesvos yesterday and Viotia on Monday.

Daily coronavirus infections doubled on Tuesday after health authorities in Greece increased the number of testing after the weekend. Authorities announced on Tuesday, 866 new cases and another 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 337.
Death toll has reached
146,020.
According to health experts, the current infections are due to New Year celebrations, while those of Epiphany are yet to be seen.
Many experts have told media, that they now see whole families (parents and children, couples) infected and this means that they had celebrated together without masks during the holidays.
