Today, vaccines shield us from more than 20 life-threatening diseases. Each year, between 2 to 3 million lives are saved by immunisation against diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza or measles [1]. However, several vaccines such as the one against measles can only reach their full potential protecting not just those who are immunised, but also those who might not be eligible for vaccination if the vaccination coverage in a population is high enough [2].

It helps pave the way to universal health coverage and Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals – ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.

IMMUNION: Promoting vaccination uptake across the EU

A new European project to improve equitable vaccine uptake by strengthening collaboration between healthcare professionals, public health authorities, the media and local communities has launched. IMMUNION will contribute to and complement wider EU vaccination efforts through delivering better education to health professionals and better information to the general public.   Effectively communicating evidence-based information about vaccination in ways which build trust and reduce the spread of misinformation has rarely been more critical. IMMUNION (“Improving IMMunisation cooperation in the European UNION”) has been built to meet these needs.  During its two-year lifetime, IMMUNION will contribute to EU efforts to improve vaccine uptake by providing education and training to health professionals – represented by the members of the Coalition for Vaccination –  on how to effectively communicate about vaccination with their patients and the media. Belarus parliamentary delegation attends CIS IPA plenary session MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarus parliamentary delegation headed by Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova took part in the 52nd plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), BelTA has learned. One of the main topics of the plenary session is the legislative regulation of migration processes during the pandemic and the role of the parliaments of the CIS member states.
