When I learned that Pepe Le Pew was the latest casualty of cancel culture, I shook my head in mild amazement. And yet, as so often happens, the bad quickly became an open door of opportunity. It just so happened that the famous (infamous?) skunk was in a town nearby, so I made a few phone calls. Finally, through a friend of a friend, I managed to arrange a meeting at a little French café.

MARSHALL Twenty-five students participated in the Feb. 1-5 virtual Regional Spelling Bee sponsored by the Southwest West Central (SWWC) Service Cooperative.
SWWC used an online testing platform created by the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The top four place winners have advanced to the Multi-Region State Spelling Bee, which will take place on Tuesday. The winner from the Multi-Region State Bee will then go on to the National Spelling Bee, which will take place June 1-3.

Porterdale Elementary School fourth-grader Malachi Brock emerged victorious in Newton County School System’s 2021 District Spelling Bee.
Brock edged out all of the NCSS elementary and middle school school-level champions to walk away with Super Speller bragging rights this year, a news release stated.
Congratulations are in order for Stroman Middle School Victoria County Spelling Bee winner, 8th grader,
Aaron Ehsan. He became the top speller last Thursday for Victoria County when he correctly spelled, “
salubrious.”

Laney Aiken, a high school student, were named co-champions once again at the county bee. The co-champions will go on to represent Victoria County at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 6 at Parkway Church in Victoria, Carolina reported.
Aaron has competed in the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee previously in the fifth grade and placed 52nd at that time.
Over a million people watch the ESPN Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship. Over 11 million students compete for the top prizes which include a trophy, and $50,000.00.
