OWUSU AFRIYIE AKOTO ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2021 RE: AKOTO MEMORIAL LECTURES The Chairman of the Council of State, Nana Otuo Siribour II, Juabenhen; The Chief Justice, My Lord Kwasi Anin-Yeboah; The Former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Michael Aaron Ocquaye; The Director of the Ghana School of Law and Faculty; The Vice Chancellor, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Faculty; General Secretary and Regional Chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Nananom; Members of the Media, Students, Ladies and Gentlemen. The family of Baffour Osei Akoto is most grateful to the Ghana School of Law for the opportunity provided by this platform to discuss the life and works of my late father and his contribution to the development of our dear country, Ghana.

Local Authorities must constantly engage stakeholders -Dr Ato Arthur

Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service said there is the need for local authorities to constantly engage and dialogue with stakeholders through every available avenue to engender trust and confidence. He said it was important to draw stakeholders’ attention to the mandate of Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) which appears to be very limited, given modern day dynamics of Local government administration. Dr Ato Arthur said this at the maiden conference of Regional Minister, Regional Chief and Coordinating Directors and Deans’ of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs from the various regions. The two-day conference, which is on the theme: “Deepening Decentralisation and Local Governance for Accelerated Development in Ghana: The Role of Key Stakeholders,” is to take the participants through Ghana’s Decentralisation policy document and how to achieve the document targeted goals.

Establish Effective Relations With Local Authorities - Chief Of Staff

  Madam Akosua Frema-Opare, the Chief of Staff has advised Regional Ministers and Regional Chief Directors to establish and maintain strong and peaceful relations with Chiefs, Opinion and Religious leaders in their various jurisdictions. She said the peaceful co-existence between government representatives, administrators and traditional authorities in the regions were the easiest way to facilitate development in the areas. Bono East Regional Minister Commits To Transformed Agriculture

  Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Bono East Regional Minister, on Thursday expressed his determination to transform agriculture and create employment for the teeming unemployed youth in the region. He said the agriculture sector was unattractive because farmers lacked credit facilities to go into commercial production and a ready market for foodstuff and agriculture produce. Mr Adu-Gyan said this when the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) paid a courtesy call on him at Techiman, the regional capital. He said his administration had prioritised the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) initiative and would ensure that Bono East is a perfect destination of 1D1F for agro-processing in the country.
