“To achieve Zero Hunger, we must ensure zero child labour” FAO pledges to end child labour in agriculture in Africa Format 1 April 2021, Addis Ababa - Acknowledging the reality that child labour continues to undermine the global effort to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has reaffirmed its commitment to end child labour in the agriculture sector. FAO Subregional Coordinator for Eastern Africa and Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), David Phiri, conveyed FAO s pledge at a virtual event yesterday to launch the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour in Africa, organised by the African Union and the International Labour Organization. The event focused on the AU s Ten Year Action Plan (2020-2030) on Eradication of Child Labour, Forced Labour, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery in Africa.

We ve no hand in Allotey Jacobs infantile assassination allegations – NDC By Eric Nana Yaw Kwafo LISTEN The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Bureau in the Central Region has rubbished claims by the dismissed member Bernard Allotey Jacobs alleging that assassins have been hired by the party to kill him. The former Central Regional Chair of the NDC was expelled by the top hierarchy of the main opposition party last month over alleged misconduct. Speaking to Happy FM on Thursday, Allotey Jacobs has accused the NDC of sending killers to assassinate him in his home region. “Just about an hour ago, I heard from a reliable source the NDC has brought attackers to come and kill me. They have sent assassins after Andy Kankam and I. So as I am speaking now, I am speaking from a coded location”, he told Ohene Brenya Bampoe on the Happy Sports show.

US State Department salutes Arab American Heritage Month in video statement

The US State Department released a video from spokesman Ned Price saluting the contributions Arabs Americans have made in honor of the nation’s annual Arab American Heritage Month which began April 1. Although only 27 of the country’s 50 states recognize the month saluting Arab American culture, Illinois has codified the annual commemoration in a law adopted in 2018 and while the governor’s and legislatures in many states approved resolutions and proclamations recognizing Arab American heritage. Arab Americans first arrived in America during the 17th century and have served the country in the US military including during the Civil War in 1860, World Wars I and II, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and the recent wars in Iraq and Syria.

Red Cross Needs Disaster Relief Volunteers

Those interested can volunteer remotely or sign up to work at in-person Red Cross events.
