The Covishield containers arrived at the RGIA in a freighter aircraft and were transported from there to the State vaccine storage centre in the city in a deep freezer van.

Express News Service HYDERABAD: Ahead of the vaccine rollout in Telangana from January 16, a consignment of 3.64 lakh doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca s Covishield vaccine arrived in Hyderabad from Pune on Tuesday. The vaccine is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII). After its arrival, the vaccine was sent to the State Vaccine Centre’s walk-in coolers for storing before they are transported to the inoculation centres. The State has identified nearly 3.40 lakh healthcare workers for the vaccination, including 25,000 to 30,000 from Central government hospitals. This is a historic day for modern medicine as in a record time of 10 months, a vaccine is ready. We thank the researchers and scientists who worked on this, said Dr GS Rao, Director of Public Health of Telangana.

Mid-Hudson Task Force Members Discuss Vaccine Distribution Plan

5:22 New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced the formation of Regional Vaccination Hubs to help facilitate COVID-19 vaccinations once Phase 2 of the state s plan begins in early 2021. Regional task forces are part of the process. WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne spoke with a few county leaders who are on the Mid-Hudson region’s task force. The Regional Vaccination Hubs are led by local hospital systems, and will work with community leaders to develop regional vaccination networks to guide administration once enough doses are in hand to start the next phase. For the Mid-Hudson region, Westchester Medical Center is the regional hub coordinator. The regional task forces will develop a distribution plan with local governments and other providers. Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro is on his region’s task force.

Clinton County Health Department Provides A COVID-19 Update

3:40 The Clinton County Health Department held a virtual update on the status of the pandemic in New York’s northernmost county including a look at the start of vaccinations at the local medical center. Since the Thanksgiving holiday the Clinton County Health Department has seen over 200 new COVID-19 cases in the county. Director of Public Health John Kanoza said there are now 132 active cases.  He said the numbers reflect a significant increase in positive cases compared to summer and early fall similar to what is occurring across New York.  “The spread of COVID-19 is largely occurring between friends and family members. People are taking the appropriate precautions when they are out in public such as wearing face masks, separation distancing. But then they’re getting together with friends and family members who don’t live in their home and they’re not taking those same precautions during those interactions.
