A new digital health innovation hub, dConnect has launched today in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) which will support Ireland’s ambition to become a global leader in the development of digital health solutions.
dConnect will act as a bridge between business, the healthcare sector, higher education and society, forging innovative partnerships that will deliver disruptive technologies to revolutionise healthcare as we know it.

Creative Spark has recently launched a plan to support creativity, innovation and small business in Louth
The Dundalk centre, which is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a registered charity, operates as a not-for-profit social enterprise which aims to develop the local creative industries sector, support new and established innovative enterprises and activate creativity in the community.
Creative Spark first opened its doors in October 2012 and is led by a voluntary Board of Directors and a team of experienced staff.
As it launched its strategic plan for 2021-2023, Creative Spark’s stated vision is to provide a collaborative environment where learners, educators, innovators, start-ups, SMEs, creative industries and the local community can meet and exchange ideas, knowledge and best practice – to provide economic opportunity and development across the region.
Vandals smash vacant Portlaoise building set to become €2.5 million Cube

Vandals have smashed a glass panel in a vacant Portlaoise office building that is waiting for the past year for a €2.5 million makeover to become a low carbon business centre of excellence.
The glass building on Church Street was built in 2012 but was never fully finished or occupied.
Laois County Council is ready to spend €2.3 million of public money to finish and update the building, to open it as The Cube, a low carbon centre of excellence for the midlands.
The smashed window was highlighted by Portlaoise Cllr Thomasina Connell at the March meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.
25 Feb 2021 : News Desk CREW Chief Executive Niamh Costello Creative Enterprise West (CREW) is a brand-new collaborative initiative, which supports the creative digital enterprise sector in the West.
Key partners in the dynamic CREW initiative are the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), the Western Development Commission (WDC), and the Galway Film Centre (GFC).
CREW has appointed Niamh Costello formerly of Galway Technology Centre as Chief Executive.
CREW’s focus will be on the development and scaling of creative digital entrepreneurs, job creation, incubation, and accelerator programmes, training, and outreach services along the Atlantic Economic Corridor. Plans are also underway for the development of a Centre of Excellence providing enterprise and co-working space, on the GMIT Centre for Creative Arts & Media, Cluain Mhuire campus, Galway.
