February 23, 2021 Share In recent days, reports have emerged of rising killings in the Al-Hol camp and the United Nations took note of these killings The Al-Hol refugee camp is a refugee camp on the southern outskirts of the town of Al-Hawl in northern Syria, close to the Syria-Iraq border, which holds individuals displaced from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. It is controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Al-Hol is a home to over 64,000 people, mostly women and children. The UNICEF says, 14% of camp residents are women and children from 60 countries. They include family members of former IS fighters, as well as their supporters and victims. They are being kept in a separate, guarded section for their safety.

(file photo) © UNICEF/Ashawi Several people, including four children, are reported dead, with many more injured, following a weekend of deadly bomb attacks in towns in northern rural Aleppo, Syria. According to media reports, a car bomb detonated in the town of Azaz on Sunday, killing four and injuring at least 22. One of the dead was reportedly a 12-year-old girl. The attack comes just a day after an attack in Afrin, also in the Aleppo region, also a car-bombing, which reportedly killed six civilians, three of whom were children.
