Subscriber only Bundaberg projects focused on tourism recovery may benefit from the latest round of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF). Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt has called on the Bundaberg community and Hinkler electorate to apply for funding under round five of the grants program, with applications now open. He said after facing challenges including drought and COVID-19 last year, the BBRF program is designed to help kickstart the new year by supporting community driven projects. This round of funding includes $100 million in dedicated funding for tourism-related infrastructure boosting our regional tourism recovery, while maintaining $100 million for broader community infrastructure and investment, Mr Pitt said.
The Northern Rivers chapter of Regional Development Australia (RDA) will focus this year in supporting businesses to reduce their dependence on China, according to Don Page. The former MP and current chair of the local RDA confirmed the organisation will encourage firms to diversity their supply chains. One of our key focuses will be to encourage businesses to diversify their supply chains away from China, he said. A lot of businesses are hooked in with China in terms of their supply chains. On the manufacturing side, we bring a lot of imports from China, also on wholesale and retail, we are quite heavily dependent on Chinese products.
