NDDC tasks oil firms on delay of remittances in Niger Delta

nddcSole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Efiong Akwa, has cautioned oil firms in the region against delaying their statutory remittances to help stabilise and enhance the security of oil production in Niger Delta. He sought collaboration with the government of the United States of America (USA) to produce a revised Regional Development Master Plan for the region. x Akwa spoke when a delegation of the United States Consulate in Lagos, led by the Political and Economic Chief, Brandom Hudspeth, visited him at the Commission’s new headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. “We have a good relationship with the oil companies, but sometimes they delay in paying their statutory remittances. The law says that they should pay three per cent of their annual budget to the NDDC for the development of the Niger Delta region.

NDDC seeks U S support on new regional masterplan

By Desmond Ejibas Port Harcourt, Feb. 9, 2021 The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Tuesday called for collaboration with the U.S Government to produce a revised Regional Development Master Plan for the region. NDDC’s Interim Administrator, Mr Effiong Akwa told a delegation from the United States Consulate in Lagos, who visited NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, that the regional master plan which had a lifespan of 15 years expired in 2020 and as such, needed to be reviewed. This is contained in a statement by the commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede. “So, we appeal to the U.S for a partnership to produce another master plan that will be tailored to address the needs of Niger Delta people and American citizens in the region.
