Farmer-focused mental health toolkit funding boost
An online portal aimed at helping improve the wellbeing of farmers and their communities is being expanded, thanks to a $200,000 Marshall Liberal Government grant.
The $200,000 funding injection from the $21 million Drought Support Package will be used to further develop the ifarmwell website, which provides practical information for farmers about ways of coping with challenging and difficult circumstances.
Minister of Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham said industry has embraced the online toolkit during these challenging times.
“The health and wellbeing of our farmers is paramount as they work through these challenging times, particularly with the ongoing drought,” Minister Basham said.

SA hub to help improve drought resilience
A new ‘Drought Hub’ will be established in South Australia to help better prepare farmers for drought and improve resilience with the Marshall Liberal Government contributing $4.4 million.
The South Australian Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub will be headquartered at University of Adelaide’s Roseworthy campus and supported by five nodes throughout regional South Australia at Minnipa, Port Augusta, Orroroo, Loxton and Struan.
The SA Drought Hub is being led by the University of Adelaide and was developed in partnership with the Morrison Coalition Government and the three South Australian universities.

Seasonal workers arrive to help SA horticulture industry
The first of around 1,200 seasonal workers from the Pacific Islands are arriving in South Australia today to cover critical worker shortages and help support thousands of local jobs in the state’s agriculture and horticulture industries.
Just over 200 workers will arrive today from Tonga and will be transported directly to the specially configured Paringa Resort in the Riverland to undertake two weeks quarantine before beginning the vital work.
The program is expected to cost up to $7 million which is being jointly funded by the Marshall Liberal Government and the agriculture sector with industry contributing $2,500 per worker.
Commercial rock lobster fishers will be able to carry-over uncaught quota and have extended fishing seasons in temporary changes to help fishers manage.
