LAFAYETTE, Ind. Lafayette police have investigated four shooting incidents in three days, but only one person was injured in what police say was an accident.
Seventeen-year-old Marquis McDowell showed up at Franciscan Health Hospital just before 3 p.m. Monday with a gunshot wound to his leg, according to Lafayette police.
McDowell told police he was handling a handgun and accidentally shot himself in the leg police said, indicating the accident happened at 525 S. 31st St. in Lafayette between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m. Monday.
A friend at the house drove McDowell to the hospital and dropped him off, police said.
Hospital staff called police.
