IC sets staff vaccinations, graduation | News, Sports, Jobs

From staff reports MINGO JUNCTION Faculty and staff at Indian Creek Local Schools will be obtaining vaccinations during the next week in the latest move to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Superintendent T.C. Chappelear informed board members during a brief session on Thursday that roughly 140 employees will receive their shots on Thursday in the Indian Creek High School gym in cooperation with the Jefferson County Health Department. “We will have a vaccination day on Thursday,” he said. “We will have a remote learning day that day to help facilitate the vaccinations.” In other business, officials hope to return to more in-person classes for the remainder of the year and are already setting their sights on graduation. Chappelear said they also plan to hold commencement exercises this spring. The board has already scheduled next year’s graduation for May 22, 2022, at Franciscan University of Steubenville, but is also eying activities this year for May 23.

Brenan Pergi STEUBENVILLE Brenan Pergi has been promoted to vice president of operations at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Pergi, whose new title became effective Monday, has served the university for 17 years, having previously held roles including admissions counselor, assistant director of financial aid and executive director of human resources, and he has served as vice president of human resources since 2015. He possesses 23 years of experience in Catholic higher education, having served at Ave Maria and Wheeling Jesuit universites in roles related to planning and finance. The Rev. Dave Pivonka, TOR, university president, said he looked forward to working with Pergi in this enhanced role.

The award was presented for being “Champion Newspaper Carrier Salesman.” STEUBENVLLE A trophy nearly half the height of Patricia Fletcher of Steubenville brings back a special memory for the former longtime educator and administrator in Steubenville City Schools who touched the lives of many youth in that capacity. And that would include her son’s life, too, not surprisingly, although he wasn’t a student in the classroom sense. But Anthony Fletcher learned early on about expectations to be responsible in his formative years and that included when it came time to getting his first job and joining the working class.
