Winds pushed wildfire smoke from the raging Dixie Fire in Plumas County to the south Wednesday, flooding the Sacramento Valley.
Photographs from the state capital showed an eerie scene with chalky skies and low visibility. This smoke has Sacramento looking like it s fog & overcast outside while maintaining 100+ degree weather, one Twitter user wrote. Fire season in NorCal don t be playing at all.
The website Purple Air measures air quality around the country, and on Wednesday, the site showed downtown Sacramento at unhealthy levels, while some spots to the northeast of Sacramento along the Highway 80 and 50 corridor were at very unhealthy levels.
