The Philippines is battling one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in Asia, with hospitals in the capital overwhelmed amid record daily infections, while authorities face delays in delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.
The country has seen new daily cases surge in recent weeks, surpassing 15,000 on April 2, most of those in the congested capital, Manila.

Wala po talagang sumasagot sa amin e pati po sa [Department of Health]. So nagtatanong din po ang Department of Health pero wala kaming makuhang information,” Domingo said in an interview on Dobol B TV. (Until now, it is a pending case. No one is answering our queries even the Department of Health is asking, but we cannot get any information.)

In his press briefing this week, Roque said government frontliners are still waiting for their turn in the vaccination program.
“Hindi po (It’s not true),” he said.
“Hindi pa po totoo iyan. A4 pa rin po ang mga government frontliners (There’s no truth to that yet. Government frontliners are under the Priority Group A4),” he added.
The Palace official said that even in his office, they are taking extra precaution because no one has been vaccinated yet.
“Sa aming opisina, mahigit kalahati na po ang na-COVID kaya kapag tanghalian po sama-sama iyong mga nagpositibo, iyong mga negatibo nasa labas po (In our office, more than half of us have gotten COVID-19 so during lunch those who tested positive eat together while those who are negative eat outside),” he said.
