Fishermen breathed sighs of relief yesterday when they realised their vessels were spared the wrath of Hurricane Elsa on Friday.
Those at both the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex and the Berinda Cox Fish Market in Oistins, Christ Church, said although the storm was rough, their boats were not damaged.
At the Bridgetown complex around noon yesterday, some of the fishermen were seen removing ice from their vessels and cleaning.
Long-time fisherman and owner of Lady Muriel, Harvey Corbin, said he believed the precautions they took by docking the boats in Bridgetown and placing tyres on the decks to cushion the blows were helpful.
