WATERTOWN â A vigil for the two real estate brokers who were shot and killed Wednesday has been scheduled.
According to Mayor Jeffrey M. Smith, the vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday on Public Square near the fountain.
Maxine M. Quigg, 50, of Wellesley Island, and Terence M. OâBrien, 53, of Black River, were shot after Barry K. Stewart, 55, of Carthage, allegedly went into their real estate office on Clinton Street on Wednesday afternoon and opened fire. Stewart later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to state police.
It was about 2 p.m. Wednesday when Stewart allegedly went into Bridgeview Real Estate Services LLC, 145 Clinton St., Suite 111, where he was a former employee, and shot Mrs. Quigg and Mr. OâBrien, who co-owned the business.
WATERTOWN â Police say a third person was inside the realty business where a man shot and killed two people Wednesday afternoon. He then apparently left in under a minute.
Detective Lt. Joseph R. Donoghue Sr. with the Watertown Police Department revealed the new information when he invited reporters to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on Thursday afternoon for a press conference about the fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday in Watertown.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, Barry K. Stewart, 55, of West Carthage, entered Bridgeview Real Estate Services, 145 Clinton St., Suite 111, and allegedly shot the two owners with what appeared to be a handgun. Maxine M. Quigg, 50, of Wellesley Island, and Terence M. OâBrien, 53, of Black River, were dead by the time police arrived on the scene.

Barry K. Stewart, 55, is accused of killing a woman and a man at BridgeView Real Estate Services in New York’s Watertown, according to the
New York Daily News. At around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the former BridgeView Real Estate Services agent reportedly drove up to the real estate agency’s office in a gray 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck and started shooting.
“Caller states Barry Stewart is there and shot everyone,” a dispatcher said through Jefferson County emergency radio transmissions. “Caller apparently locked herself in the bathroom. There are two other people there with her.”

Police are searching for an armed suspect over a 60 to 70 radius.
A spokesperson for state police said the two were killed inside the BridgeView Real Estate Services on Clinton Street.
Police say they are looking for a person of interest, identified as Barry K. Stewart of West Carthage. WWNY reports Stewart is driving a gray Ford 150 pickup truck, with license plate HUS5491.
