Adrian schools to consider hiring law firm to make policy updates

A previous report noted the price could range from $13,5000 to $20,000. A most recent meeting of the board of education clarified the cost of services. ADRIAN The process of updating school policy and student handbook information could begin after today s meeting of the Adrian Public Schools Board of Education. The school board could approve a purchase and business agreement with Thrun Law Firm of East Lansing, after the firm informed the board some of its handbook policies might not be up to date with state regulations.

Adrian schools look at possible student handbook and policy revisions

The Daily Telegram ADRIAN Changes to the Adrian Public Schools student handbook might be coming in the near future after the district’s board of education listened to a presentation from a law firm at its virtual meeting Monday. An attorney from Thrun Law Firm of East Lansing told the board that some of its current policies in the handbook might not be up to date with state regulations. Specifically, Raymond Davis pointed out that the handbook’s policies on student discipline and sexual harassment both could be updated. Davis said Adrian’s current penalty for a student s failure to adhere to the district’s sexual harassment policy is a three- to five-day suspension. Meanwhile, legislation stemming from Title IX a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in a school or other federally funded education program is more severe than three to five days.

MACON TWP. — A 15-year-old died Sunday when the minivan he was driving struck a tree.The boy and his mother, both from Britton, were driving on Britton Highway in Macon Township at about 3:30 p.m. when the crash happened. The teen was driving on a graduated level 1 driver’s license with his mother as the passenger, a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office said.
