British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner announced £3.5 million UK humanitarian aid for Balochistan during his first visit to Quetta on Thursday, said a statement issued here.
The aid will help over 41,000 women and children get vital nutrients, through a therapeutic food programme, according to the statement. It will support community outreach workers to identify and help malnourished children, pregnant women and new mothers.

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh hailed the government and people of the United Kingdom for their support and assistance for the economic development of Pakistan.
He was talking to British High Commissioner Christian Turner, who along with Head of Development Annabel Gerry called on him at his office, a Finance Ministry press release said.
The minister hoped that economic relations would further strengthen between the two countries.
He said the government was pursuing a broad-based economic reform agenda to achieve export-led growth and would like to further deepen trade and economic linkages between the two countries.
MIAMI – Virgin Atlantic (VS) has commenced flights to Islamabad, Pakistan, marking the first time VS has flown into the country. The flight, which originated at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) arrived Friday morning at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport (ISB).
Virgin Atlantic uses Boeing’s B787 Dreamliner for this sector. The flight leaves LHR at 12.30 p.m. (local time) Thursdays and arrives at ISB at 1.00 a.m. (local time) on Friday. Flights will also originate at Manchester and North America.
After arriving, the plane received the traditional water canon salute. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari and British High Commissioner Christian Turner met the plane on the tarmac.
British airline Virgin Atlantic starts operations in Pakistan

The new flight will help improve people-to-people links and boost trade between Pakistan and the UK.
