The prominent UK Black Lives Matter activist who is in critical condition after she was shot in the head on Sunday had previously received numerous death threats, according to the group with which she worked.
The Taking the Initiative Party said Sasha Johnson, who played a leading role in Black Lives Matter protests last year, was shot in the head on Sunday. She underwent surgery on Monday, the party said in a social media post.
Police and a friend said it did not appear to be a targeted attack, though the party said Johnson had received numerous death threats related to her activism before the shooting.

Johnson, 27, was critically wounded by a gunshot to the head at a party in London in the early hours of Sunday morning. While Johnson has frequently received death threats and initial reports indicated she was the target, a friend told the BBC that she was an unintended victim of a drive-by shooting that involved two rival gangs. Johnson is on the executive committee of the Taking The Initiative Party, a recently formed British political party, and an outspoken advocate for racial equality. Some of her more incendiary statements have drawn significant criticisms. She is widely known as the Black Panther of Oxford.

LONDON - A British Black Lives Matter activist is fighting for her life after being shot in the head during the early hours of Sunday morning. Sasha Johnson, a 27-year-old mother, is in a critical condition after the incident, which comes amid “numerous death threats,” according to a statement from the political party she is affiliated with. Police did not name Johnson but confirmed a woman was shot in the London borough of Southwark at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning “in the vicinity of a house where a party was taking place.” She was taken to a nearby hospital. Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sasha Johnson was apparently caught in the crossfire in a shooting outside a party. She was found critically wounded after police were called to a house on Consort Road in Peckham shortly before 3am yesterday. It is understood that a party had been under way and that Ms Johnson who was outside with others was hit.
