Medical equipment is to be sent from Wales to support the international emergency response to the coronavirus pandemic in India, it has been announced.

India has been hit by a large second wave of the virus – with more than 400,000 cases recorded on several days in the last week alone.
Health Minister Vaughan Gething and Chair of the Wales branch of the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) Professor Keshav Singhal visited the NHS Wales National Distribution Centre on Monday (10 May) to inspect the supplies.

A group of Christian organizations in the southern Indian state of Karnataka have initiated a food program to help people affected by the pandemic.
CoronaCare Bengaluru is a joint Covid-19 intervention by six leading Christian organizations in Bengaluru, state capital of Karnataka. The organizations are Hope, Breads, Echo, Aifo, Good Quest Foundation and Orione Seva.
Hope is the social initiative of the Claretians of Bangalore, Breads is the social wing of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Echo is the program of the Norbertine Fathers, Orione Seva is the social enterprise of the Servants of Divine Providence, Aifo is an Italian society working for the welfare of the persons with disabilities and disaster victims, and the Good

Chefs and community groups are cooking meals to help raise money for the relief effort in India.
More than 226,000 people have died in a devastating second wave of Covid partly due to shortages of medical supplies.
To date Bristol group 91 Ways to Build a Global City has cooked 220 meals and raised £2,500 in its first week.
Volunteer Kalpna Woolf said one of their meals not only raises funds but also creates a connection between people .
She continued: I always say that when you give a plate of food to somebody it s a hand of friendship.
