Sign Up A stroll along Oban’s front to catch a glimpse of the famous otter resulted in a pleasant surprise for a local wildlife spotter. Dan Earl was enjoying his daily walk from Soroba towards Ganavan beach when a friendly dolphin popped up swimming unusually close to the shore. The dolphin was near Dunollie Castle, where an otter has become a familiar sight.

Sex toy found on Botany Bay in Kingsgate during beach clean  |  Updated: 16:28, 05 March 2021 A sex toy, human faeces and dirty nappies buried in the sand were among the many unpleasant finds made by volunteers clearing up one of the county s most picturesque beaches. After just one weekend of spring-like weather and a high numbers of visitors, hard-working residents of Botany Bay in Kingsgate were again left to pick up the waste left behind. The sex toy discovered on the sand at Botany Bay Barry Manners, who runs the Friends of Botany Bay and Kingsgate group, says little surprises him any more, but the sex toy was a bit of a shock.

Sign Up A coastguard team was called this evening after a whale beached on a Hebridean beach. Stornoway coast rescue team were tasked around 5.34pm to Traigh Mhor beach in North Tolsta after the 15-foot long juvenile, believed to be a sperm whale, was spotted in the area. The animal was found to be dead on arrival, with the coastguard team liaising with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) organisation who specialise in whale beachings.
