US to charge Lockerbie bombmaker

The US is set to unseal charges against a Libyan man suspected of assembling the bomb which killed 270 when it was detonated during a Pan Am flight over Scotland 32 years ago.  The downing of Pan Am flight 103, travelling from London to New York on December 21, 1988, killed hundreds of people over Lockerbie in Britain s largest terrorist atrocity.  Former Libyan intelligence officer Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, who was found guilty in 2001 of mass murder and jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years, was the only person convicted of the attack.  But now, the US Justice Department is expected to unseal a criminal complaint against Abu Agila Mohammad Masud, who is currently held by Libyan authorities.

Geothermal - Geoenergy Observatory Opens in Glasgow - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

The UK Geoenergy Observatory in Glasgow, the first of two new underground laboratories that will give scientists an unprecedented look at the sub-surface had its virtual opening Monday, December 7. The team behind the facility says it will contribute to the UK’s ambition to decarbonize its energy supply and achieve net zero by 2050.
