POLICE have issued a warning against rogue traders after they received a report of five or six men going door-to-door in a Dorset village. Police officers were called to Charmouth, Bridport, on March 10 after they received a report of a group of men knocking on doors offering property surveys and building materials. The report has prompted the police to issue a warning to all residents about rogue traders. A spokesman for Bridport Police said: On March 10 police were called to the Charmouth area after receiving a report that five or six males were going door-to-door offering property surveys, building materials and cladding.
POLICE have urged residents to be vigilant after reports of scam calls in the area. Bridport Police has issued a warning in response to a scam they have recently been made aware of. The scam call consists of the caller, claiming to be a Metropolitan Police detective, telling the recipient they have arrested a man who was found with their bank cards. A spokesman for Bridport Police said: We have had another report of a scam phone call, where the caller purported to be a detective from the Metropolitan Police. This is a scam. Should you receive a similar call, please just hang up and do not engage with the caller. If you are concerned a call from a police officer may be genuine, take the details of the caller, including full name, force, station and collar number. Hang up and call 101 and ask to speak to that force to confirm a genuine call.
