GMC Hummer EV levels up in off-road testing
DUBAI, 6 hours, 4 minutes ago The GMC Hummer EV was put through its paces on challenging trails near Moab, Utah, proving its off-road capability and ability to tackle all types of terrains, including the Middle East’s rocky roads and sandy dunes. Traversing legendary trails across Moab, the GMC Hummer EV team’s testing and calibration included Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, Extract Mode1, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving2 control, e4WD and torque distribution, eLockers, stability control, rear steering, CrabWalk3 and more. Available Terrain Mode, part of the GMC Hummer EV’s Drive Mode Control, will offer two braking calibrations, with a mild braking option for two-foot driving and a purpose-designed One-Pedal Driving2 control in low-speed off-road driving.

GMC recently put the new Hummer EV Pickup to the test in Moab, Utah. The world’s first all-electric supertruck was pushed to the limits to make sure its off-road features could endure harsh terrains.

GMC looked at a wide variety of the Hummer EV Pickup’s features, including e4WD and torque distribution, rear steering, stability control, and eLockers. The Hummer EV also tested out the available Extract Mode, which activates Adaptive Air Ride Suspension to lift the truck about 6 inches. This makes it easier for the truck to ford streams and clear boulders.

So far, we have only seen the pre-production version of the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, the production model debuts this Fall. In the meantime, GMC is busy testing its upcoming electric truck. We’ve seen plenty of winter testing videos, now GMC is testing the EV in one of the most popular off-roading sites in America: Moab. There, GMC engineers had the opportunity to both test and calibrate the Hummer EV’s Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, its Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving control, the e4WD system with torque distribution, eLockers stability control, rear steering, CrabWalk, and more.
The truck s available Terrain Mode is part of the Drive Mode Control system and offers two types of braking calibrations. One is a mild braking option for two-foot driving and the other a purpose-designed One-Pedal Driving feature for low-speed off-road maneuvers. Like with other electric vehicles, the Hummer EV’s One-Pedal Driving mode lets you accelerate and decelerate using just the accelerator pedal.
