Faria Abdullah is still coming to terms with the euphoric response to her Telugu film
Jathi Ratnalu: “It’s sinking in, one step at a time,” she says, speaking for this interview in between visiting cinema halls in Hyderabad for post-release promotions.
Jathi Ratnalu directed by K V Anudeep and starring Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna as three friends who migrate to Hyderabad in search of better prospects, but are sucked into a whirlwind of unexpected events, has taken the box office by storm.
Naveen Polishetty sparkles in this outrageous comic ride by director Anudeep K V
When the teaser and trailer go viral and keep viewers in splits, there’s always the possibility of the film not meeting expectations. Thankfully,
Jathi Ratnalu delivers to a large extent and the irreverent fun can help beat the pandemic fatigue.
Of late, a few Telugu films have been going on a hyperlocal mode and capturing the ethos of different regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Director Anudeep shows us the laidback life of three hopeless youngsters in Jogipet, Sangareddy district. A kid watches them arguing and gossiping on his way to school in the morning; when he heads home after school, the trio is still there doing the same thing!
Jathi Ratnalu Story
Jathi Ratnalu is the story of Srikanth (Naveen Polishetty) who owns a ladies emporium in his hometown Jogipet. His close friends Ravi (Rahul Ramakrishna) and Sekhar (Priyadarshi) are careless people and are hated by everyone in the town. Srikanth decides to move to the city for a great career and his friends follow the footsteps of Srikanth. They land into trouble after the three friends get involved in a murder attempt. The rest of Jathi Ratnalu is all about their problems and the future. Watch Jathi Ratnalu to know about the complete story.
Jathi Ratnalu Analysis
Jathi Ratnalu is packed with entertainment all around. The first half of the film takes time to set the premises. The characterizations of all the lead actors Srikanth, Ravi and Sekhar are well established. The one-liners are the major highlights of the film and Naveen Polishetty nails it in his own style with his comic timing. The songs are good and the interval twist is decent. The entire first half of Jathi Ratnalu is good and thoroughly entertaining.

Vijay Kanakamedala makes a confident directorial debut, helped by ‘Allari’ Naresh’s bravura performance
At a crucial moment in the story, when a powerful man tells Surya Prakash (Allari Naresh) that his 40-year career is at stake, Surya retorts and asks if his own predicament, after languishing in prison for five years for a crime he never committed, doesn’t matter at all. Surya has lost nearly everything that mattered to him; he has nothing to lose in his fight for justice.

Debut director Uday Gurrala’s film is a nostalgic trip to rural Telangana when the personal computer was a luxury
The Telugu feature film
Mail, now streaming on Aha, is another reminder that there is no dearth of close-to-reality stories. Director Uday Gurrala ushers us into Kambalapally village in Mahabubabad district, Telangana, and captures people as they are, slowly unravelling their day-to-day lives and aspirations. Yet again, we have Venkatesh Maha (of
Care of Kancharapalem) and Malayalam cinema to thank for encouraging more Telugu filmmakers to narrate stories that reflect region-specific ethos. After the recent

The Telugu film ‘Mail’ harks back to the time when the personal computer was new and revered
Cinematographer and first-time director Uday Gurrala remembers spending his school holidays at his grandmother’s village, Kambalapally in Mahabubabad mandal, Telangana. “To me, that was the best holiday destination. I would sit by the lake or watch Bathukamma celebrations and feel at home with everything the village had to offer,” he recalls. When he decided to direct feature films, he was determined to narrate stories from Kambalapally. The Telugu film
