Rentz leads all scorers in SD All-Star game

Colin Rentz came off the bench and led all scorers in the South Dakota All-Star game at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls on Saturday, April 17. Rentz and St. Mary s guard Connor Libis were both invited to play.
Rentz was 7 of 14 from the field and finished with a game high 16 points. The Northern State-bound guard also had eight rebounds and two assists to lead the Blue team to a 99-94 overtime win.
Libis was a member of the White team in the All-Star game, and finished with 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting. He also finished with six rebounds and four assists. Libis is headed to Briar Cliff University to continue his basketball career.

2021 Excellence Event Shows Off Student Scholarship

The Bishop Mueller Library on Briar Cliff University’s campus is proud to present the 2021 Excellence Event from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on April 16. This year’s event will be held virtually.
The Excellence Event is an opportunity for Briar Cliff students to show off their high quality scholarship in a conference setting. With projects and presentation topics ranging from nursing stress to student-athlete mental health to racial acceptance, students will present their findings to a panel of judges to be analyzed.
Graduate student Brooke Lorenzen researched and will present “Utilizing a Mindfulness App to Reduce Perceptions of Burnout Among Nursing Staff During the Pandemic.” She will discuss the symptoms of burnout and a group of medical-surgical staffs’ before and after evidence, based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory evaluator.

Bravo to Sydney Kleingartner of Gackle and Carmen Entzminger of Jamestown, selected as 2021 North Dakota Dairy Ambassadors by Midwest Dairy. The two were chosen from applications in the Midwest Dairy region which includes eight states. They will represent the dairy industry in a variety of activities.
Bravo to the junior division teams from this region who placed in the top three teams at the North Dakota state 4-H crop judging contest last month at Valley City. The team from Griggs and LaMoure counties placed first, the Ransom County team placed second, and the Foster County team placed third.
