Hornell Police Department releases reform plan
Department reports compliance with new state mandates

HORNELL Hornell Police Chief T. J. Murray says creating a Hornell Police Department reinvention and reform plan has been a positive experience, opening new avenues of dialogue and providing fresh insights into strengthening the law enforcement agency’s relationship with the community.
With the release of the proposal created after a series of community forums, public surveys and in partnership with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and a Corning Incorporated consultant Hornell Police are inviting residents to continue the conversation.
The plan can be accessed on the department’s Facebook page and on the City of Hornell’s website. Comments, concerns and suggestions may be expressed by emailing HornellPDReform@gmail.com. The site will remain open for comments until 12 a.m., Jan. 19.

ALBANY Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo s State of the State address on Monday will include proposals to combat domestic violence and gender-based violence, including allowing courts to make abusers pay for housing damages and any moving expenses associated with domestic violence.
The package also would require the state Office of Court Administration to report monthly domestic violence statistics to the state Division of Criminal Justice Services.
