Psalm 78:1–7
These days, with all the emphasis on godly parenting, too many omit the significance of “grandparenting.”
But God never ignored grandparenting. Consider the emphasis on grandparenting from the pen of the psalmist:
O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders. Psalm 90:12–17
What are you inviting into your home? What’s meaningful among your family . your children . your grandchildren? Are you establishing healthy biblical boundaries of safety, purity, godliness, and propriety around your family? Or have you allowed the subtle forces of disrespect, impatience, rivalry, prejudice, and the sewage of immorality to seep into their lives through the portals of the Internet, Netflix, cable television, and social media? Be raw-honest, here. What have you come to tolerate under the guise of not being a prude or for fear of alienating your children and their friends? If so, may I make a bold suggestion? It’s time to invite the Lord’s glory to return. Let me say that again: it’s time to invite the Lord’s glory to return to your home.
