Officials say scammers have been sending emails and text messages to people claiming they re selling vaccinations online. If someone clicks on the links included in those messages, they re at risk of having their personal information stolen. Right now, vaccines are only being offered to people on the frontlines of the pandemic and those most at risk of getting sick.  

New York State Division of Consumer Protection warns residents of COVID-19 vaccination scams

(WBNG) As New York State begins vaccine distribution, the state Division of Consumer Protection is alerting the public about scammers taking advantage of the vaccines to steal personal information. According to a news release, the Division of Consumer Protection says the scams come in various forms. The scams could be people claiming to be online sellers of the vaccine, fake emails and texts that have harmful links designed to steal personal information, and robocalls to pitch vaccination information. Below are some tips provided by the Division of Consumer Protection to protect yourself from COVID-19 vaccination scams: Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know. It could download a virus onto your computer or device. Make sure the anti-malware and anti-virus software on your computer is up to date.
