(WBNG) As New York State begins vaccine distribution, the state Division of Consumer Protection is alerting the public about scammers taking advantage of the vaccines to steal personal information.
According to a news release, the Division of Consumer Protection says the scams come in various forms. The scams could be people claiming to be online sellers of the vaccine, fake emails and texts that have harmful links designed to steal personal information, and robocalls to pitch vaccination information.
Below are some tips provided by the Division of Consumer Protection to protect yourself from COVID-19 vaccination scams:
Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know. It could download a virus onto your computer or device. Make sure the anti-malware and anti-virus software on your computer is up to date.
