LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is pressing forward with efforts to allow schools to mandate face masks as coronavirus infections continue to rise in the state.
Hutchinson on Tuesday called the legislature back into session to consider revising a law he signed in April that prohibits mask mandates by schools and other governmental entities. Some lawmakers in the Republican-controlled body are opposing a mandate.
RALEIGH â The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced July 27 that the state has surpassed 1,000 reported cases of hepatitis A associated with a national outbreak that began in April 2017. Sixty-three percent of cases have required hospitalization and 16 people have died.
Since 2017, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has received more than 41,000 reports of hepatitis A linked to a national outbreak with higher than expected hospitalization and death rates. North Carolina has been tracking this outbreak since April 2018, and reported cases have increased significantly since August 2020. NCDHHS and local health departments are coordinating outreach events, conducting case investigations and contact tracing, and providing hepatitis A vaccine to those at risk.
Delaware Business Now
With coronavirus cases on the increase, unvaccinated Delaware residents are now advised to get weekly tests.
The advisory, issued by Gov. John Carney, the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH), and the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, strongly suggested that individuals 12 and over get vaccines.
The number of daily vaccinations has risen, but rates remain low among young adults.
The state stopped short of other steps on mask-wearing or other measures. As a result, the State of Emergency was allowed to expire earlier this summer.
After seeing a low number of cases earlier in the summer, daily cases have moved above 100. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures, all three Delaware counties are now in “substantial,” the second-highest category when it comes to spreading the virus.

With coronavirus cases rising again in Delaware, the state is considering several options to boost vaccination numbers, including mandates for certain workers and requirements to enter businesses, a top Delaware health official said Tuesday.
“There s no option that s off the table,” said Dr. Rick Hong, medical director for the Division of Public Health. Unlike other states, Delaware has yet to announce significant changes in guidance in light of the delta variant surging.
Delaware’s infection rate has more than doubled in the past two weeks, reaching a level unseen since mid-May. To date, 61% of all Delawareans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to federal data. On July 1, the state announced that it had met President Joe Biden s goal of 70% of adults receiving at least one dose.
