Peel Regional Police Const. Akhil Mooken said they began an investigation into the alleged incident earlier this month after it was reported by the management at the facility located in the area of McLaughlin Road South and Steeles Avenue West. “I want to make it clear that this specific incident was discovered by the staff at the long-term care home. The staff were able to gather the necessary information, including the potential number of victims and we re able to bring that forward to Peel Regional Police,” Mooken said.

Durham police say approximately 40 shots were fired and two people were injured during a recent shooting in Ajax.
Durham police responded to a shooting at the intersection of Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue in Ajax on Wednesday, April 28 around 4:20 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a white sedan south of the intersection with damage caused by bullets.
Police located one 24-year-old female and one 26-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a Toronto trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to the intersection of Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. Two parties were involved in an altercation, resulting in more than 40 shots fired at the intersection, police said. Const. George Tudos told CP24 on Thursday that a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were in a white sedan, and both sustained gunshot wounds. He said that they exited the vehicle in the intersection before it rolled southbound, mounted a curb and ended up pushed up against a restaurant patio. The two were taken to a trauma centre in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
