Fees for applications for dwelling houses or dual occupancies will increase from $640 to $900 and tourist attractions $4590 to $9510 - or a 107.18 per cent hike. Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the changes to development and commercial fees at Thursday s meeting to ensure it was in line with other South East Queensland councils. Previously the Sunshine Coast had the second lowest development fees for houses out of all southeast Queensland councils, with Brisbane City the cheapest.

Subscriber only Queensland students have joined hundreds in Brisbane City s King George Square to strike in the name of climate action on Friday afternoon. The country-wide School Strike for Climate will call on the Morrison Government to invest in renewable energy rather than gas projects. From 1pm students would gather in King George Square before marching through the city streets.
