A man charged over the death of his mother had been cleaning a gun and left a live round of ammunition in it, a court has been told.
Cristian Dino Lawlor, 22, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday charged with the manslaughter of his mother Giustina Katerina Lawlor.
Relatives heard a gunshot then Mrs Lawlor scream inside her Taigum home, in Brisbane, last Saturday. Her body was found on the laundry floor and despite the efforts of paramedics, she could not be revived.
The court was told her son, a part-time factory worker, had been restoring an unregistered .22 calibre rimfire rifle at the family home.

Two days next month will be dedicated to the final two hours of Queensland schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmerâs life.
Tiahleigh was murdered by her foster father in 2015, the 12-year-oldâs mostly naked and partially submerged body found on the banks of the Pimpama River in the Gold Coast hinterland on November 5, a week after she was last seen alive.

Foster father Rick Thorburn pleaded guilty to Tiahleighâs murder in the Brisbane Supreme Court in May 2018 and was sentenced to life in prison, with eligibility for parole in 2036.
