Healing a divided US in the wake of Trump
Trump’s racist appeal to a segment of voters is not unique to the US, as similar tactics are being employed in many multiethnic societies

In celebrating the US’ liberation from former US president Donald Trump’s misrule, we must not forget that Trump’s presidency embodied the raw politics of US white supremacy.
He often spoke like a segregationist Southern governor from the 1960s, and, after losing last year’s election, like a secessionist senator on the eve of the Civil War.
To sustain the victory over Trump’s destructive politics, the US must overcome the racism that brought him to power. That urgent challenge faces not only the United States, but many multiethnic societies around the world.

In his tweet, Bolsonaro shared an illustration showing Lord Hanuman carrying a mountain with vaccines from India to Brazil. The illustration is inspired from a tale in the Ramayana in which Lord Hanuman carries the entire Gandhamardan mountain to deliver Sanjeevani Booti, a magical lifesaving herb, to save wounded Lakshman, Lord Ram s brother.

In an interesting, yet powerful graphic depiction, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for dispatching around two million doses of Covishield COVID-19 vaccines.
Being the second on the list next only to the United States, Brazil has reported some 86,99,814 cases of Covid-19 and 2,14,228 deaths so far.
There are some 92 countries, which had approached India for Covid-19 vaccines after reports published that the domestically developed ones showed negligible side-effects since the massive immunization drive in the country last week. Brazil was one among them who had reportedly sent a special plane to pick up Covishield vaccines from Mumbai airport earlier today.
