Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite a shipment of AstraZenecaâs COVID-19 vaccine amid broader delays to the vaccineâs arrival in Brazil, according to a letter on Friday.
Bolsonaroâs letter, released by his press office, comes amid growing pressure to speed up Brazilâs vaccine rollout and end the worldâs second-deadliest coronavirus outbreak. Critics say the immunisation campaign is running behind regional peers, and they question why the government has not moved more quickly.
Letter from Brazil’s President comes after AztraZeneca’s partner in the South American nation said a shipment expected to arrive Saturday won’t land up until end of the month.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speed-up the delivery of initial doses of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine.
