COVID-19 variant related to UK variant discovered after Texas A&M student tests positive, researchers say

COLLEGE STATION, Texas Scientists at the Texas A&M University Global Health Research Complex (GHRC) said they have identified a variant of the COVID-19 virus.
The newly discovered variant is called BV-1. “BV” stands for “Brazos Valley,” the seven-county region of Texas where the university is located. Researchers believe BV-1 is related to the variant first found in the United Kingdom.

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas Dr. Seth Sullivan, Brazos County Health Authority, said some people may experience different symptoms after they receive the shot.
Some symptoms may include but are not limited to, itching, fever, or soreness in your arm.
According to Dr. Sullivan, that’s all normal.
Dr. Sullivan said the range of symptoms that can occur after getting the shot should only last 24 to 36 hours.
If you are in pain or discomfort, Dr. Sullivan said you can take Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Tylenol.

The Brazos County Health District confirmed three more residents have died of COVID-19. All three patients were hospitalized in their 60s and included one man and two women. We have now lost 184 Brazos County residents to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health district reported there are 40 new known cases of COVID-19 in the county and the total number of active cases are at 1,358. As of February 7, 41 Brazos County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19 and the total ICU hospital bed occupancy rate is down to 106%. The total hospital bed occupancy rate is 81%.

The Brazos County Health District reported there are 84 new known cases of COVID-19 in the county and the total number of active cases is 1,424. As of February 7, 41 Brazos County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19 and the total ICU hospital bed occupancy rate is 133%. The total hospital bed occupancy rate is 87%.
