The Black Public Relations Society-New York and the Black Theatre Network in association with SimonSays Entertainment, have come together to create BLACK INSPIRATION, a virtual audience development initiative for the Broadway-bound production THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN by Keenan Scott II, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III.
Today the partnership announced its first event, BLACK INSPIRATION: An Artistic Continuum, A Dialogue. The program will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 7:00 pm ET in celebration of Black History Month and will serve as the starting point for an ongoing conversation between the production and potential audiences. During a time of national strife and racial division, art s power to rejuvenate the spirit is desperately needed, four-time Tony Award-winning producer and SSE CEO and President Ron Simons said. Black Inspiration is what stokes the flames of creativity and healing.

Forty-two students, selected from public high schools across New York City, will participate in The Broadway League s ninth annual High School Broadway Shadowing Program. The 2021 program will be presented online due to the ongoing health concerns with COVID-19.
The workshop will give this selected group of students access to Broadway professionals and introduce them to careers beyond the stage over a portion of their mid-winter recess (February 16-19). This is the only commercial theatre program of its kind that caters to teens with aspirations of exploring non-performance careers in the arts.
Broadway's first new play announced for post-shutdown is written by a black playwright, featuring an all-black cast and helmed by an all-minority creative team.

New civil procedure rules before Easter, says chief justice Chief Justice Brian Moree. FILE
After years of delays, Chief Justice Sir Brian Moree, QC said he expects to put into effect the new civil procedure rules (CPR) which would include a formal, structured mediation process for the court system before April.
The CPR was initially expected to come into effect in June 2013, but suffered a number of delays; and then again last April, however the COVID-19 pandemic caused another delay.
“We are in the process of replacing the current Supreme Court rules with the new civil procedure rules (CPR). We’ve been working on that for some time, it has been delayed for numerous reasons. But I did state in my speech at the opening of the legal year that we now expect to promulgate these rules sometime before Easter,” Sir Brian said during a virtual symposium held on alternative dispute resolution by the Ministry of Financial Services, Trade & Industry and Immigration.
