Does ocean acidification alter fish behavior? Fraud allegations create a sea of doubt May. 6, 2021 , 2:00 PM When Philip Munday discussed his research on ocean acidification with more than 70 colleagues and students in a December 2020 Zoom meeting, he wasn’t just giving a confident overview of a decade’s worth of science. Munday, a marine ecologist at James Cook University (JCU), Townsville, was speaking to defend his scientific legacy. Munday has co-authored more than 250 papers and drawn scores of aspiring scientists to Townsville, a mecca of marine biology on Australia’s northeastern coast. He is best known for pioneering work on the effects of the oceans’ changing chemistry on fish, part of it carried out with Danielle Dixson, a U.S. biologist who obtained her Ph.D. under Munday’s supervision in 2012 and has since become a successful lab head at the University of Delaware (UD), Lewes.

Brunel University rent strike achieves first aim | This Is Local London

A rent strike spearheaded by a new organization at Brunel University London has concluded after a final decision on how rent will be paid this academic year. Brunel Student Justice (BSJ), founded in November 2020, presented five demands to the Uxbridge-based university after discovering that students would not be let out of their rent contracts without the expectation of still paying rent for the rest of the year. This was despite some being unable to stay on campus due to the coronavirus pandemic. Lauryn , a 22-year-old final year law student at the university, claimed students were not informed when the terms of their contracts changed.

The Insolvency Service welcomes new chair and board members A new Chair and three new non-executive board members have been appointed to the Insolvency Service Board, providing strategic leadership to the agency. From: 3 May 2021 Incoming Chair, Mark Austen, will be joined by Gary Kildare, Samantha Durrant and Rob Hunt on the Insolvency Service Board. The new non-executive board members, together with Mary Chapman who is continuing in her role on the board, will work closely with the Insolvency Service’s senior leadership team to provide strategic leadership and governance for the agency. The Insolvency Service’s Chief Executive, Dean Beale, said:
