Taiwan shares volatile amid U.S. tech plunge 03/09/2021 12:31 PM CNA file photo Taipei, March 9 (CNA) Taiwan shares remained volatile as the electronics sector came under pressure Tuesday morning following heavy losses suffered by tech stocks on American markets overnight, dealers said. The Taiex, the weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), had fallen 0.17 percent to 15,793.09 on turnover of NT$245.60 billion (US$8.65 billion) as of 12:14 a.m. The market opened down 0.66 percent, led by the electronics sector, in the wake of a 2.41 percent plunge by the tech-heavy Nasdaq index and a 5.41 percent dive in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index in the United States overnight, dealers said.
