Health care workers in Tier 1A of the city s vaccination plan were the first people to get doses Friday. The Pennsylvania Convention Center vaccination site can serve up to 4,500 patients each day, organizers say. Philadelphia is opening its first mass coronavirus vaccination site. The first doses were administered Friday morning at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Center City. The site isn t for everyone, at least to start. First up are front-line health care workers, including home health care workers, in the 1A vaccination group who have already signed up. Police officers and transportation workers are in the next group set to get vaccinated.

Philadelphia extends ‘Safer at Home’ restrictions on businesses, gatherings through Jan. 15 Published  FOX 29 s Steve Keeley has the latest details. PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia officials have extended safer at home restrictions through January 15.  Previously, the restrictions were set to expire at 8 a.m. on January 4th but due to a continued spike in coronavirus cases officials decided to extend those restrictions. These restrictions impact the following: indoor dining, indoor gatherings and events, theaters, casinos, colleges, and indoor organized sports. Those restrictions were implemented since indoor spaces with large numbers of people are connected to higher risks of spreading COVID-19.
