Tacoma Defiance add four players

Tacoma Defiance have signed four new players ahead of the 2021 season, adding over 10,000 professional minutes across a variety of leagues and bringing the roster to 17 players directly signed to the team.
The club announced on Monday that forward Samuel Adeniran, and defenders Tom Brewitt, Randy Mendoza and Issa Rayyan had all been signed. The quartet of signings all probably slot more into the “second chance” category of players that Tacoma has historically signed as opposed to younger, development players all are in their 20s. They bring experience from leagues in the US, England, Spain, and Germany.

Houston Dynamo FC have added Kyle Morton to strengthen the goalkeeper group after the departure of Cody Cropper, who saw no game action in 2020 with the club. Now Morton will be the primary competition for Marko Maric’s position. Compared to current backup Michael Nelson, Morton has about 67% more professional games under his belt and will push Maric if he does not want to lose a grip on his starting role. “In an effort to expand our depth and competition with our goalkeepers, we wanted to add someone with the right mentality and experience to compete every day,” mentioned coach Tab Ramos. “Kyle has been doing the work over the last few years and we feel he is ready to compete.”

Ryan Becher scored the game-winning goal for UMBC on Friday and just kept on running.
The Philadelphia Union Academy and YSC Academy grad from Hummelstown celebrated his goal by making a beeline for the sidelines and running up the steep hill at Retriever Soccer Park. It was the fifth goal of his career and first of the 2021 campaign for the second-year midfielder.
It was also the lone goal of the game in the 1-0 win over the University of Albany, scored off a set piece 57 seconds into overtime. The Retrievers improved to 2-1-1 on the season, having gone into overtime in three of their four games.

Before Tim Weah went to Europe to join the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, the 21-year-old forward weighed the option of joining the residency program at the Philadelphia Union Academy.
“I was gonna go to Philly at one point, I’m not gonna lie,” Weah said in a recent episode of Orange Slices, a podcast hosted by Mark McKenzie and Heath Pierce. “Before I came to Europe. We came out to visit Philly, Philadelphia Union and I was gonna come to the club, because the way they were their academy and the way they have that residency program is amazing.”
