A defiant Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw on Thursday forcefully defended how she led her department during protests and civil unrest last year following a critical independent report, saying she has the support of Mayor Jim Kenney and will not resign.
She said while police were initially “woefully understaffed” on May 30, the first day of protests in the city, and when that was brought to her attention, “we began to bolster those resources.”
