“I did not know that when session opens for 2021, my first task would be to honor a soldier, a brave Filipino, and most of all, a friend,” Hontiveros said.
“General Danny Lim, as most people who know him can attest, was an intellectual giant…He dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence: first topping the entrance exam to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), and then making it to the United States’ Military Academy at West Point,”

Senators honor Danny Lim
The Senate adopted on Monday, January 18, 2021, the resolution expressing its profound sympathy and sincere condolences on the death of Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danilo Lim.
Senate Resolution No. 613, taking into consideration Senate Resolution No. 614, was adopted by the Senate during its first plenary session for the new year to honor Lim who died on January 6, 2021 at the age of 65.

CEBU CITY A retired army official, who once served as a regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of a lawyer in November last year here.
Retired Col. Edwin Layese was alleged to have acted as the supervisor in the murder of lawyer Joey Luis Wee, the National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas (NBI 7) said.
NBI 7 regional director Renan Oliva said Layese was also involved in the ambush of another lawyer last October.
“We arrested him in connection with the murder of Joey Wee and in the frustrated murder of James Gupana,” said Oliva in a press briefing Monday.

BAGUIO CITY With the recent surge in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among the cadets and personnel in the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) has collaborated with the city government to train the personnel of the prestigious military school in contact tracing.
Some 16 personnel of PMA attended the one-day training on Contact Tracing which consist of four modules being used by COVID19 National Task Force (NTF): COVID 101, Retooled Contact Tracing System, Contact Tracing Analytical Tools and Cognitive Interviewing Skill jointly shared by the BCPO and the city government.
