This was stressed by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Research and Development Rowena Cristina L. Guevara in her message during the National Research Council of the Philippines’ Annual Scientific Conference and 88th General Membership Assembly with a theme “Pagbangon at Pananaig: National Recovery and Rebuilding” held on Wednesday, March 10.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is carefully studying and reconciling its data on the vaccines that will be used for its Solidarity Vaccine Trials (SVT) in the country, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) said on Monday, Feb. 22.

DOST-PCHRD Executive Director Dr. Jaime C. Montoya said the WHO has yet to issue the final Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specific protocols for the conduct of its SVT in the country.
He even noted that the WHO has no final decision yet on the vaccines that will be used for the SVT.

DOST-PCHRD Executive Director Dr. Jaime C. Montoya said VCO trials were being conducted to ensure the effectiveness of VCO as a potential supplement that could prevent the worsening of condition in patients afflicted with the disease.
