PNU s week-long academic break starts on February 8 – Manila Bulletin

(Photo from PNU) Starting on Monday, Feb. 8, classes at the PNU will be called off to allow students to rest as provided under University Memorandum No. 021, series of 2021.  From Feb 8 to 13, synchronous and asynchronous classes and activities will be suspended.  “Pahinga muna tayo (Let us rest first). Indeed, let’s enjoy the break we all deserve,” PNU University Student Council posted on Facebook. PNU implemented its first academic break on Nov. 18 to 21 last year following the onslaught of Typhoon “Ulysses.”

Yearender: CHED leads higher education amid COVID pandemic

(MANILA BULLETIN) President Duterte placed the Philippines under a state of public health emergency in mid-March to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after health authorities confirmed localized transmission of the virus. The Department of Health (DoH) repeatedly urged the public to avoid crowded places and observe social distancing as among the precautionary strategies against the spread of COVID-19. As part of this measure, the President decided to suspend classes in areas affected by the outbreak on the first week of the enforcement of an enhanced community quarantine to prevent possible exposure of students to the virus and to contain the spread of the disease.

Based on the September 2019 LET, a total of 445 schools had zero passing rate, he added. “With all due respect, we want to be realistic, unbiased, and to look at the whole picture.
